For the A to Z challenge this year, I’m sharing science fiction and fantasy story ideas…
“Scavenge like it’s the zombie apocalypse.”
I wrote that down fairly early in my A-Z planning, and if there was anything more that it meant, any characters or coherent plot, I’ve forgotten about them. It’s a cool sounding phrase, though, isn’t it?
Presumably, in the story, it’s not actually the zombie apocalypse, but somebody’s scavenging as if it were. Is it some other kind of apocalypse, or a reality tv show? Is the scavenging character just crazy?
If you’re interested enough to pick this up and write your own version, feel free; ideas are cheap. And let me know! I’ll be keeping the notions vague enough that lots of different stories might be written from them.

Without even having read the actual post, I have to admit that I chuckled when I saw your title. lol I’ve got a dozen ideas running through my head now for why someone might be scavenging as such. ^_^

Zombie apocalypse? Wonderful words. I’ve been overwhelmed with zombies lately – books, movies, TV, video games. Maybe I need to give in and write about them myself. Or at least scavenging in anticipation of their arrival.

Actually makes me want to write about a zombie apocalypse. 😛 Which I sort of did already, except the story’s not finished, AND they’re not quite zombies … 🙂 But the fact is that the quote inspires me. 🙂

You know, Chris, this got me thinking about scavenging for story ideas—relentlessly, as if I’m after blood. And then writing with zombie-like fervor. That is to say, mindlessly, with the inner editor off.
This is where the A to Z becomes the hardest…at the end. Time to write like a zombie! Thanks!

I’m going to agree with you, Laura. It’s nearing the end of the month, that time when deadlines are screaming for attention, when we must scavenge for that window of time . . . I haven’t written my “S” entry yet! Your comment, “write like a zombie,” resonated!
