Welcome friends, followers, and Weekend Writing Warriors!
I’ve decided to switch to something new and share snippets that I wrote during April for Camp Nanowrimo, from the first draft of “The Gnomes are Missing.” I hope you enjoy them. Kinwer and his pixie friend Trish have just reached the entrance to the dwarf Clanhold..
The dwarf guard with the hammer dropped it to his side, but the other one wrinkled up his bushy eyebrows and glared at them both ferociously. “You’re a fairy, ain’t ya, little thing?”
“I’m a pixie, thank you very much!”
“So what are a pixie and a man-child doing up in these mountains?” he asked, and Trish hesitated. “You’ve come to ask some boon of the Clan King, haven’t you?”
“Well. . .” Trish hesitated. “We have news for the Clan King, regarding the perfidies of goblins.”
“And you want him to do something about them?” Hammer pushed, stepping forward.

Sounds like it’s show time. I wonder if Trish can get past Hammer to speak to the Clan King.

This snippet was very intriguing and actually made me smile envisioning the characters. Hope to learn what happens.

Can’t see the word dwarf and not think LOTR. 🙂 I just hope Trish is a fast talker if she wants to get past these two. Nice snippet.

LOL — this was fun, especially the clarification about being a pixie instead of a fairy. 🙂

“Perfidies of goblins” indeed – I’d let them in just to find out more. Terrific snippet!

It’s very important to know what kind of creature you’re talking to. Especially if they’re touchy about being mislabeled. 🙂

Loved the boldness of her clarification, and wondering if she’ll be as bold with her next response – Hammer sounds intimidating!
