Nanowrimo Spotlight: Allison W.—Author and Stigma Fighter

Good afternoon, and welcome back to my ongoing Nanowrimo Spotlight series. Today, I’m pleased to introduce you to fellow Municipal Liaison Allison; you can find Allison on Twitter as @AlliW_writes and also on Facebook. So here’s Allison:

I’ve been doing NaNoWriMo for a few years now (since 2012), but I’m super excited to be a Municipal Liaison for my region this year. The first year I actually won was 2013 — it was finally the kick in the pants I needed to finish a project.

What are you writing about this year?
I’m writing a sequel to my second novel, Waiting for You. This year’s project is titled Forget Me Not. It focuses on my female lead, Kylie Lewis, and her search for her father. I had gotten about 20,000 words during Camp NaNo this past summer, but I think I’m going to scratch what I had written and start over.

What is your favorite movie – you have to pick just one!
Ugh, tough question! After some careful thought, I’d have to say To Kill a Mockingbird (also one of my favorite books). I love Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch.

What advice would you give to all your fellow Wrimos?
Stick with it! Don’t worry if what you’ve written is the greatest — just write! You can always go back after November and edit.

Sneaky Ninja question! What fictional character are you most like?
I’d have to say Pat from Silver Linings Playbook — in female form,small_wfycover of course. 🙂 I live with Type I Bipolar Disorder, and I can so relate to how he’s learning to deal with his illness and trying to make amends and get through life.

Waiting for You is available on Amazon and iBooks. I’m so in love with these characters — they’re like my children! I truly enjoyed writing this story, and I don’t think I could ever get tired of it.

I also promote awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. Stigma fighters unite!
