It’s been a little while since I’ve done a full hour of walking at once. This afternoon, I made the time to walk what I used to call the ‘Nothing but North’ route. I often did this when I was first starting to get serious about exercise and losing weight, back in… was it the summer of 2007? (Wow, can hardly believe that it’s been that many years.) I remember setting off in the evenings, with headphones and a music or audiobook player; at first I was building up my endurance, pushing myself to go further up Parkdale avenue, north from my apartment, then turning around and back home. Finally I stopped pushing myself when I could get all the way to Burlington street and back; 5.4 kilometers, or nearly three and a half miles.
These days, I more often cover that distance in my car, because that’s the way I head to work and back, in a matter of minutes. But walking it is satisfying in a different way.
I got some other cool stuff accomplished on my day off; cooked up some chicken stew that I’m going to combine with mashed potatoes tomorrow. I finally got around to decorating the blasting rod for my Harry Dresden cosplay outfit with viking fire runes. And I went down to visit my Mom; helped her with some stuff for her new Blackberry phone, got the new leather thong for my shield bracelet measured, and we went out to Kelsey’s for steak dinner.
If you’ll pardon the pun, it was definitely a good Friday.

Nobody actually gave it to me. Tammy Theriault just kinduv had them sitting there with a sign saying ‘take one if you want’, so I took it. 😉
HERE BE THE RULES:
- Answer the 11 questions posed by the person who ‘nominated’ you. (NOT the questions that they answered.)
- Share 11 facts about yourself.
- Pose 11 questions.
- Nominate 11 other bloggers.
The questions from Tammy…
1. If you could interview one celebrity, who & what is your million dollar question?
Hmm… I’d probably want to interview Joss Whedon, even though a lot of great questions have already been asked, and he likes to dodge the best ones. 😉 I might ask him what his favorite moment of writing was, and if he’s pleased with what he wrote then.
2. Did you ever carry a pager when they were cool?
I’m not even sure when pagers were cool. I did carry a Blackberry email pager when they were fairly new and cutting-edge gadgets – back in 2003, maybe? (This was before Blackberries were phones.)
3. What is your fav home decor that you would be mad if I stole?

It’s good to be back in Canada.
I’m still a bit tired from the trip and all the excitement of Kansas. Took me a while to get back into the swing of things with work – and it didn’t help that my Blackberry didn’t want to take any emails when I powered it up today.
My creative energy still isn’t really focused yet, but hopefully that won’t last too long. There’s lots of great new stuff sort of still swirling around in my head, but I’ve got projects that I committed to for July, and I don’t want to let them all slide. Tomorrow night is Hamilton Writer’s at Chester’s Beers of the world, so that should hopefully be fun. I’ve printed out copies of the scene assignment to read there.
On a sadder note, I left “The Prisoner of Azkaban” in the seat pocket of my Continental Airlines flight from Kansas City to Cleveland yesterday afternoon, so the Harry Potter posts may get delayed until I pick up a new copy.
