Six Sentence Sunday – Gotta have that look 10

August 26, 2012

Remember to check out the full list of participants over at the Six Sentence Sunday home site. In the world of the future, anybody can use genetic treatments to look exactly how they want – or can they? Thanks to everybody who’s given me feedback so far.

First Six. Second Six. Third Six. Fourth Six. Fifth Six. Sixth Six.
Seventh Six. Eighth Six. Ninth Six.

When I went back for my booster shots on the growth spurt and muscle builder, my chin already looked different, and I thought I could feel a change in my biceps too. This time a girl gave me my shots – she was blonde and really pretty, and I couldn’t help but notice her engagement ring. She left me sitting alone in the privacy room after, saying that she’d be back to check on me in ten minutes.

I counted to sixty after she left, then used keycodes I’d downloaded onto my pocket-Smart to unlock the ‘Employees only’ door. It didn’t take me long to find a supply cabinet with a half-full box of hypodermic vials marked ‘Bright green eyes’ and a long formula reference that I didn’t understand.

I knew how to re-sterilize myself, though, and inject myself with a fresh needle.

Have a great week, everybody!

August 19, 2012

Remember to check out the full list of participants over at the Six Sentence Sunday home site. In the world of the future, anybody can use genetic treatments to look exactly how they want, except for our hero apparently…

First Six. Second Six. Third Six. Fourth Six. Fifth Six. Sixth Six.
Seventh Six. Eighth Six.

“You can’t sign a waiver until you’re eighteen, Jimmy – and I couldn’t give you one anyway for this kind of allergy. But we can get you started on the rest of your program.”

I was tempted to tell him to shove the program, that if I couldn’t have green eyes none of it was any use, but… “Yeah, let’s go with the rest.”

I’ve always been better with computers than people. After I got home with that first treatment doing its job on all of my cells, I crawled onto the Graph and found out a lot about my local Transform-U franchise, including several details that they don’t really want customers finding out about.

I’ll try to send cupcakes or other fun treats to everybody who comments – no promises this week, though.

Thanks very much to the mods at Six Sentence Sunday for keeping order in the list, week after week. I’m glad if you’ve been enjoying my little story about teenage science fiction and genetic treatments to look good…

First Six. Second Six. Third Six. Fourth Six. Fifth Six. Sixth Six.
Seventh Six.

“I’m sorry, I tried every green-eye variant that we’ve got in the state. You’ve got an overactive genetic defense mechanism on your P2BKY-3 receptor, and -you’re allergic to green eyes. You’d be miserable until well after the color faded. I’ve got a call out, there might be somebody who’s got a new green sequence ready to go that we can get shipped in.”

“No, you don’t understand!” I exclaimed. “I can deal with… with a runny nose and itchy eyes, or whatever the allergy symptoms are.”

I’d love it very much if you told me what you thought. (Sorry, out of cookies this week.)

It’s still all about teenagers and sci-fi cosmetics, genetic tech to modify bodies for the sake of looking good.

First Six. Second Six. Third Six. Fourth Six. Fifth Six. Sixth Six.

“What about the eyes?”

“You’ll look great with green eyes, kid; the girls will be all over you.”

I only wanted one, I thought, but smiled as he put the needles to my arm and took what he needed.

When the sales rep came back into the consultation room, there was a trace of jowls around his cheeks that hadn’t been there before. “Jimmy, I’m so sorry.”

“What’s wrong?”

More cookies for everybody who comments!

Six Sentence Sunday – Gotta have that look 4

July 15, 2012

It’s good to be back for Six Sentence Sunday, though I took last week off in the Polaris excitement.

First Six. Second Six. Third Six.

Jimmy was talking with his friend Bryan about getting a ‘new look’ to impress a girl.

“Not too tall, but at least 170, strong arms, square jaw.” I looked up at Bry. “Can they do all this down at Transform-U?”

“Oh, so little Jimmy’s finally ready to stop being the short duckling and man up?” Darren put in. “Yeah, it’ll take a little time – especially the extra height. It takes a while for those shots of theirs to grow out your bones, and even longer if you wanna get short again.”

I’d love it if you wanted to leave me a comment! 🙂

Six Sentence Sunday – Gotta have that Look 3

July 1, 2012

First Six. Second Six.

So, we’re continuing on with my little story about teenagers playing around with their ‘look’:

“Stephanie came through when I asked her to.” With his other hand, Bry produced a pocket-Smart with a short list typed on the screen. “Your recipe for winning the heart of Diane Black.”

I felt really awkward about this, but excited too – and slowed gradually to a stop so that I could focus on the words better.  “Green eyes, she said first,” I read. “So they’re important to her?”

If you feel moved to post a comment or a response, I will be so very grateful! 😉
