Ninja Spotlight #9: Jade Hart

Good evening all. I’m just finishing a great holiday weekend up here in Ontario, but I wanted to share this great spotlight with Jade Hart, and her self-titled blog, (formerly ‘Dream Write Publish’.) Let’s get right to the questions and answers.

What would you do all night if you couldn’t get to sleep?
Well, most nights I don’t sleep – complete insomniac, but I normally just stare at the ceiling and yell at myself to relax. It obviously doesn’t work. If I could nap during the day I would get up and write all night. But because my body has an aversion to sleeping when the sun is up… well, it doesn’t give me a lot of quality sleep! So my long winded answer would be – write.

Are you organized or messy?
I’m UBER organized when it comes to lists and appointments and things, but some clothes can stay on the bathroom floor for a few days… and the vacuum will only be pulled out once a week. Housework is the bane of my life. But everything else… I’d say I was organised.

Do you tend to avoid conflict with other people or face it head-on?
If the argument is worth fighting then I’ll stand my ground, but most of the time I just drop it. I can’t be bothered with the stress of confrontation, especially if it’s not a topic that is worth the work-up.

I’m a writer, blogger, tweeter, and currently live in middle earth with my Canadian husband and house rabbit. I’ve been asked a few times if my name is real – yes, it really is Jade Hart. Even though it kinda sounds like a super hero’s name – or at least, that’s what my hubby says. I was born in Hong Kong and have lived around the world. My debut book: SAMSARA will be available later this year from Curiosity Quills. It follows Hindu mythology and turns Gods and Goddesses into flesh and blood characters who struggle just as much as the rest of us. I’m currently working on three new manuscripts which keep me busy. When I’m not writing I can be found travelling the globe and renovating houses. And something very random: I love cracking the sugar crust of a creme brulee – YUM.
